Hells Belle!
In what had been anticipated for quite some time now the Mountain West Conference recognized the brilliant season by senior linebacker Beau Belle with Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday. He became the fourth Rebel to earn the prestigious award. Belle is quoted in saying “It’s a big deal being named the player of the year for this conference because the coaches vote along with the media,” said Bell. “We worked hard all year as a team and this is a great way to wrap up my college career. Despite our final record I had a lot of fun playing with these guys and will never forget my senior year as a Rebel.”
Aside from that Belle made the First Team All-Mountain West Conference leading the conference with 126 tackles. The mark placed him 20th in the nation. Belle would finish his career at UNLV with a whopping 320 tackles and becoming the first player to win MWC Defensive Player of the Week three times in one season. He would finish fourth in the nation with five forced fumbles and be fifth in the conference with his four interceptions, one of which he returned for a score against Wyoming.
The hard work would earn Belle a trip to the Senior Bowl making him just the fourth Rebel to also earn that honor. Beua Belle will now look to persue his career at the professional level and enter the 2008 NFL Draft.
