Sam Boyd Sees Bodies…Kinda

Perhaps the most ironic thing in a season that has brought nothing but disappointment and frustration for the UNLV Football is knowing they made history. Aided by three sell outs (Wisconsin, Hawaii, BYU) the Rebels were able to to set a single season per game average in attendance in their six home games. Attendance at Sam Boyd Stadium averaged 29,281 which broke the previous mark set in 2002. Overall 175,684 have cheered for better or worse at Sam Boyd this season. The first game of the season featured then ranked Wisconsin as 38,250 fans poured in to a thrilling near upset by UNLV. One week later on September 15th the Rebels saw 38,125 watch the Warriors pound UNLV into the ground. Sam Boyd once more saw a capacity crowd against BYU on October 13th as 38,026 fans witnessed another UNLV debacle. With the exception of the Wisconsin game, the second half featured more fans from the opposing team than Rebel faithful. So on that night…cheers to witnessing mediocre football!
