McCardell returns to Draft Team

UNLV Hall of Famer Keenan McCardell signed with the Washington Redskins today. McCardell will join a much depleted Washington receiving corps that has caught only healthy wide-out.

The Redskins orginally drafted McCardell in the 1991 draft. Yet his tenure there would be short due an injury placing him on the injured reserved list. The next year he wound up in Cleveland where he played four seasons. His role was minimal in the Browns offense and thus the Browns released him in 1996.

The departure from Cleveland prompted McCardell’s his signing with Jacksonville which skyrocket his career. It was during his tenure here, along with wide receiver Jimmy Smith and quarterback Mark Brunell that he’d make an impact. McCardell would play for five seasons in Jacksonville accumulating 499 receptions, 6393 yards, and 30 touchdowns landing him in second place in franchise history. In 2001 he was sent to Tampa Bay where he’d win a Super Bowl ring in 2002.

McCardell’s last stint would land him in San Diego where he would play in 37 games in three years.

McCardell currently ranks 9th all time in receiving yards with 11,117 and 62 touchdowns.
